What to ask for in a website quote (so you are not surprised later)

Implementation vs maintenance, exclusions and deliverables: how to read a corporate website quote without fine print.

What you’ll take away

  • Split setup and monthly care; if they are merged, ask why.
  • Demand an exclusions list: store, migrations, copy, photography.
  • “From” is not the final price — it is the public entry point.

A website quote that only says “corporate site: €X” invites arguments later. What helps is a breakdown you can match to what you actually need.

Two lines that should be obvious

  1. Implementation — design, build, agreed migrations, go-live.
  2. Maintenance — hosting if applicable, security, support and small changes.

At Bitora the public entry point is from €200 for implementation and from €30 per month for maintenance. The exact close depends on scope; see pricing.

Explicit exclusions

Ask in writing what is out:

  • Online store or payments.
  • Mass copywriting or a photo shoot.
  • Complex ERP or CRM integrations.
  • Month-to-month content SEO campaigns.

If it is neither in exclusions nor in deliverables, it will show up as an “add-on” in month two.

Checkable deliverables

Repo or code access, CMS with training, a launch checklist (sitemap, forms, 404), and who responds if something breaks in week one.

Watch out: a low price with no defined maintenance usually hides a recurring cost or a project abandoned after day one.

How we phrase it

The corporate website page and pricing use the same language: implementation and maintenance, no opaque packs. If scope is still fuzzy, the free diagnostic ranks the map before you sign.
